Antique Hand Made Hatchet Restoration

Amateur restoration of an old hatchet, axe magnet fished in the Canal du Midi (south of France)

It was hand forged and probably dates back to the time of the Canal's manufacture in the 17th century.
It was extremely rusty when it was found and its condition does not allow it to be made like new. We have tried to reproduce the manufacturing techniques of the time for the handle.
